With our project The Foundation we want to make a difference in the lives of children and orphans living in poverty in Uganda. We do this by supporting orphans through Christian Childcare Programme. A monthly sponsoring gives them the opportunity to go to school and receive medical care and counselling. Not in an orphanage, but with family. Next to this, we build bamboo houses for poor families in Uganda.
Bamboo Construction Projects
In December 2019 we built a bamboo house for two sponsor children and their family. The BVU Foundation project of 2021 is to build a school, for approximately 50 children to receive education.
Uganda, like many sub-Saharan African countries, faces major challenges in providing quality and accessible basic education. Early learning and development is compromised by the lack of pre-schools and other early childhood development (ECD) programmes and qualified teachers, as well as limited awareness and appreciation of the importance of ECD. One out of every 10 children between 3 and 5 years of age is enrolled in pre-primary education. With The Foundation we aim to do something about that.
